BIO

"Gonna pack up my belongings. Give away pretty much everything. Clear what's left of my memories. Just my dog that I'll bring. The country road is my oyster. Hopes and dreams are my pearls...I'm headin on and out to nowhere ...gonna meet some ole' country girls." --"Country Road" from est. 1980.

Praised by Shawn Mullins as having writing similar to "Ben Folds", "Camper Van Beethoven", and "Cracker",” Jody Aaron has been seen playing major venues around the U.S. He's claimed a spot on the infamous Indie Band site, Garageband.com’s “Song of the Day,” earning over 200,000 downloads for the single, “All I Wanted". Jody was a finalist in VH-1's "Song of the Year".

A southern-bred singer-songwriter with guitar stylings reminiscient of Dave Matthews, Jody has shared the stage with artists such as Mike Watt (from Iggy Pop), Joanie Leeds, and Atlanta Rock Band, Y-O-U, and has performed in front of packed audiences at venues and festivals such as B.B. King's House of Blues, The Tabernacle, The Knitting Factory, Orange County Fair, and New Jersey Folk Festival. From the coastal town of Clearwater, Florida and raised along The Gulf of Mexico's white sands -- Jody's natural surroundings helped shape his relaxed, and honest sound.

In 2003, Jody won first place in CNN's International Talent Search, landing him high acclaim from viewers. This also led to being invited to CNN's Aaron Brown Newsnight to perform "The Prompter Song" in front of a national television audience. To kick off CNN Search 2004, Jody was brought in as the opening act for that years talent show where he sang and danced alongside actor/producer Emannuel Lewis and hip-hop artist "Klone" in what CNN dubbed "The Jody Friedman Experience".

In 2005, Jody composed a theme song for CNN HLN's Nancy Grace. Many of his songs have been featured on television and films. CNN, "Reflection" on MTV's "Made", and "Out of the City" on Australian Idol to name a few.

His last CD release as a solo artist was "est. 1980". The release found critical acclaim from listeners, magazines, websites, radio stations, and newspapers. Since then, Jody has been focusing on his writing and managing his bands, "The Jody Aaron Method" (R.I.P 2007), "Innertune" (R.I.P. 2009), and Jetpack Armada (still going strong).

Evident in his release, "est. 1980", Jody has taken his folk roots, and his love for pop melodies, and alternative music, and created his own unique sound which he self-brand's as "Pop-Rock for your Soul". The songs on this album evoke universal emotions of love, hate, hurt, loneliness, and self-struggle while addressing today's world issues. The video for his single from est. 1980 “ All I Wanted ” can be seen here.

Moving to Los Angeles in 2006, Jody has been focused on his bands, and more recently co-writing songs for other arists with Emmy winning writer Michele Vice-Maslin, and Jessie McEntire and is currently seeking other writing partners.

By profession, Jody is a music supervisor and goes by his last name, Jody Friedman. For more, please see this website
